HomegrownRadioNJ.org will celebrate its upcoming 20th anniversary, Oct. 19.

The Boonton-based Internet radio station HomeGrownRadioNJ — which bills itself as “Real Music Broadcast Worldwide” — will celebrate its upcoming 20th anniversary with a concert, Oct. 19 at 5:30 p.m. at Boonton Elks Lodge #1405, featuring the bands The Outcrops and The Electric Farm, as well as singer-songwriter Geoff Doubleday.

“You do a great job,” said Willie Nile in a taped message for the station. “Keep rockin’ the planet. Here’s to another 20 years. Congratulations to everybody involved. It’s important, and it means somethin’, and I’m very grateful for all that you do … Hell yeah!”

The actual anniversary will take place later in the month, as the station launched on Oct. 30 (Mischief Night), 2004, in its original hometown, Blairstown.

The station has also started a GoFundMe campaign through which its listeners can make donations.

According to the GoFundMe page: “What began as a desire to share music with our little patch of the world has grown far beyond that original vision by spreading our take on radio across the globe. This Station’s growth and Global Proliferation is truly amazing, given the endless choices out there for people to listen to in the Streaming Music & Talk spheres! We now have programs originating right here in Boonton as well as Alaska,… Thailand,… Queens, NY,…. Las Vegas, NV,… Madrid, Spain,…. and all across the Great State of New Jersey, with our latest addition coming straight from the Emerald Isle itself…Ireland.”
