The Weeklings practice social distancing in their new video, a cover of The Beatles’ “All You Need Is Love.” Band members Glen Burtnik, Bob Burger, Joe Bellia and John Merjave were filmed separately and at the 2:48 mark, Bellia is shown adding percussion overdubs in a hospital mask. You can see the video below.
The video debuted on Facebook with a message that said: “It’s time for some love and social distancing. Just because you can’t be together, doesn’t mean you can’t get together! All you need is love … and the internet. Peace and be well.”
(April 23 Update: The band has made a second video for the song, too, with socially distanced horn and string players added. This video is now embedded below, as well.)
“All You Need Is Love,” arguably The Beatles’ most uplifting anthem, is a particularly good choice for the times we are living through. The original song, released as a single by The Beatles in 1967 (and a No. 1 hit in the United States, England and elsewhere), debuted on “Our World,” a groundbreaking television special seen by more than 400 million people in 25 countries, in which 14 countries contributed live segments.
