The Count Basie Center for the Arts in Red Bank, which has been presenting drive-in concerts at Monmouth Park in Oceanport this month, will try something a little more intimate at Monmouth Park’s Blu Grotto restaurant.
The “Concerts in the Garden at the Blu Grotto” series will feature at least four concerts and three comedy shows in August and September:
Aug. 7-8, 8 p.m.: Best of The Eagles
Aug. 15, 8 p.m.: Willie Nile, James Maddock
Aug. 22, 7:30 p.m.: The Weeklings
Aug. 29, 7 and 9:30 p.m.: Chris Distefano
Sept. 12, 7 p.m.: Vic DiBitetto
Tickets go on sale July 22 at 10 a.m. via ticketmaster.com, following a pre-sale to Basie members.
The Basie is presenting these concerts in conjunction with UMT Presents, whose president, Tony Pallagrosi, described the venue in a press release as “a socially distanced ‘supper club under the stars.’”
Tables will be positioned six feet apart, with the front row of tables 12 feet from the performers. Tickets will be sold in table-for-two, -four or -six configurations. Tickets include a dinner reservation, with seating beginning two hours before showtime (dinner and drinks are not included in the price of tickets).
Masks are required when entering the venue or using the restrooms.
According to the press release, news about more shows in this series is “forthcoming.”
