A concert featuring Valerie Simpson will launch the very eclectic third season of the PAC the House series at the Hackensack Performing Arts Center.
Simpson — who formed the songwriting, recording and touring duo Ashford & Simpson with her husband Nick Ashford (who died in 2011) — will perform Sept. 28 at 8 p.m. Ashford & Simpson’s biggest successes as recording artists include Top 40 hits “Solid” and “Found a Cure.” As songwriters, their long list of smashes includes “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” “You’re All I Need to Get By,” “Ain’t Nothing Like the Real Thing,” “Reach Out and Touch (Somebody’s Hand)” and “I’m Every Woman.”
Following her in the 2019-2020 PAC the House Series are gospel singer and bandleader Donnie McClurkin, Nov. 2; Colombian singer-songwriter and accordionist Gregorio Uribe, Jan. 11; rootsy singer-songwriter James Maddock, March 28; and jazz trumpeter and singer Bria Skonberg, April 18.
The theater is located at 102 State St.; for information, visit hacpac.org.
