It must be some kind of record. More than 1,000 people — 1,004, to be exact — performed an exuberant version of Bruce Springsteen’s “No Surrender” together at the No Surrender Festival in Vilanova de Bellpuig, Spain, this weekend. Watch a video of it, below.
The festival took place Friday and Saturday and featured other musical performances as well. More than 4,000 people reportedly attended.
According to the festival’s web site, nosurrenderfestival.com, preparations began in April, and there were multiple rehearsals on Saturday.
“The recording will be uploaded on the internet so that the Boss can get it,” reads a message on the site.
“No Surrender,” one of Springsteen’s most powerful anthems, is from his 1984 album Born in the USA. It was not released as a single, but Springsteen and his E Street Band have played it fairly often in concert since then.
(2018 Update: In June 2018, more than 1,000 people performed “Badlands” together at the festival. Click HERE to see a video.)
