Montclair Film’s Glitter Ball fundraiser at the Wellmont Theater, March 2, featured some high-profile participants, including Montclair residents Stephen Colbert, Patrick Wilson and Warren Zanes. You can watch videos of them performing Dr. John’s “Right Place, Wrong Time” (Colbert), Hall & Oates’ “You Make My Dreams (Wilson) and other songs, with backing from Joe McGinty and his Loser’s Lounge band, below.
This is the third year in a row that these three performed at Montclair Film fundraisers at the Wellmont. (For coverage of the first two events, with videos, click here for 2017, and here for 2018.) New to the performing lineup this year was former New Jersey gubernatorial candidate Jim Johnson.
The event’s full name was “Glitter Ball: A Dance Floor Celebration of Soul, R&B, and Funk,” and it raised money for Montclair Film’s year-round film and education programs. Colbert and Wilson are on the advisory board of Montclair Film, as is Wilson’s wife Dagmara Dominczyk. Colbert’s wife Evelyn is the president of Montclair Film’s board of trustees, which includes Johnson.
This year’s Montclair Film festival takes place May 3-12. The schedule is expected to be announced on April 5, with tickets going on sale for Montclair Film members on April 8, and for the general public on April 12.
