Tony Bennett will be performing at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark on Nov. 12 and 13, as part of the TD James Moody Jazz Festival, and some of the proceeds from the Nov. 13 show will benefit Strengthen Our Sisters, an organization in northern New Jersey that has seven shelter houses, two licensed daycare centers, a food pantry and a thrift store. Bennett’s niece, minister Ann Benedetto, is on the shelter’s board.
Strengthen Our Sisters is selling premium orchestra seats, for $155, and VIP packages, which include a post-show meet-and-greet with Bennett, for $500.
Other attractions in the Nov. 7-15 TD James Moody Jazz Festival include the Judy Carmichael Trio, Nov. 8; Christian McBride with Bruce Hornsby, Nov. 12; Dianne Reeves and Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings, Nov. 14; Bill Charlap’s tribute to Miles Davis’ Birth of the Cool album, Nov. 14; and the T.S. Monk Sextet, Nov. 15.
